Do you see Notification Services in the Object Browser of SSMS? You can right click on it, select List Versions, and see more information.

How can I be assured that I do have SP1 applied correctly in SQL 2005 Developer Edition

I installed my SQL 2005 Developer edition and applied the SP1. I didn’t have a time to wait the installation to complete (I needed to reboot) so I cancelled the SP1 which was downloaded from Windows Update.

Now, my development PC says that SQL 2005 SP1 is applied but I am not sure if it’s applied correctly. I tried to reinstall SP1 in order to be assured but I can’t get it reinstalled. I get error message saying that you already have SP1 2047 ENU applied.

I just don’t want (have a time) to troubleshoot some possible upcoming issues in development because of this. So, how can I be assured that I do have SP1 applied correctly?

At what stage you have to rebooted the box?

if this is used for a testing on production, then its better to resintall afresh to avoid any spurious errors in future.

Run SELECT @.@.VERSION and see the results.

|||

Yes. 9.00.2047 is the SQL Server 2005 SP1 version. You can verify the following items to get more confidence.

1. Add/Remove Program in control panel to check the status of SQL Server 2005.

2. Go to registry keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\Setup to check the version.

3. You can check the file version of %ProgramFiles%Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.<instance id>\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe.

|||

I try to uninstall the SP1 but its not possible, so I guess in order to be safe I should uninstall the SQL 2005 developer edition completely and reinstall it and apply the batch again.

It looks all good in SQL site, but SQL reported the SP1 applied and Microsoft Update reported the SP1 cancelled. This is a bit wired, so I going to do the reinstallation in order avoid any spurious errors in future.

Thanks folks....You great....

HOW CAN I ATTACH DATABASE TO MSDE ?

I am having little problem with it , I am using installshield for setup program and at the end when I finish with msde installation I try to attach a database, I would like to use SQL-DMO , but I dont have much clue how can I do it I need some examples sc
ripts
Thanks a lot
While you can use SQL DMO, it's really easier to simply use ADO or ADO.NET.
When you "open" a database connection against SQL Server and point to the
MDF file, ADO does an attach for you (unless the database is already
attached). This code is from a yet-to-be-published article on SQL Server
Express where I attach a new database to the local SQLEXPRESS named
instance.
Try
cn = New SqlConnection("Data Source=.\SQLExpress;" _
& "Integrated Security=True;Database=Biblio;" _
& "Timeout=60;" _
& "Application Name=SQLExpress Test;" _
& "AttachDBFilename=" & strFn)
da = New SqlDataAdapter("SELECT AU_ID, Author, Year_Born from
authors", cn)
ds = New DataSet
da.Fill(ds)
DataGridView1.DataSource = ds.Tables(0)
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try

How can a client application get serial number of SQL server installation

I want to write an application, which will be validated by serial number.
This serial number has to be dependent on serial number, which
is used during SQL Server installation.
In other words - licence key for my client application has to be dependent
on server.
How can my client application get server validation key or another server
specific information (such harddisk serial number of the server, network
adapter card serial number etc)?
Message posted via http://www.sqlmonster.com
You can get the serial number of the SQL Server installation from the
registry key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Registration\CD_KEY.

|||Yes, you are right. But this doesn't solve my problem. This registry key
can be read only by an application, which runs on the server.
I want to get licence key of SQL server in application which runs not on
the machine server but on the client machine.

extended procedure xp_regread. See

Hotfix Installation failed on named Instance on a SQL-Server-2000 Cluster

Hi all,
I have a windows 2003 cluster
with sql-server 2000 sp3
and a named instance.
I wanted to installation the hotfix ..859, but the installation failed
and I got the error:
"The logged on account does not have administrator privileges on all
possible owner nodes of the selected SQL Server configuration.
Please log on using an account that has administrator privileges on all
possible owner nodes and then run Hotfix Installer again."
I've checked different things.
My account has the correct rights, the RPC service is running, DNS
works fine ...
I have no idea what to do!
Can someone help?
Greetings
Susn
Are you running the hotfix from the controlling node? Also, you may have to
reboot each node, before the hotfix will install.
Cheers,

|||Hi Susn,
Just wondering if you were able to install the hotfix. I would recommend you to log into both the nodes of the cluster with the startup account of the clustered SQL Server service (this account is a doman account and
should have all the required rights). Then start the hotfix installation on the node where SQL Server instance is currently running.
Keep up updated. If it fails, then please post the log for the hotfix failure.
