LiteSpeed would be my recommendation, although I am biased a bit. See
our web site for industry reviews and more information. A free trial is
available.

|||If you don't want to purchase any software just use the Transact-SQL BACKUP
command
BACKUP DATABASE master TO DISK = 'c:\master.bak' WITH INIT
...repeat for msdb and your user databases
Make sure that you read up on BACKUP and RESTORE within Books Online (within
the SQL Server program group).

|||What are some ballpark costs? I really don't want to get into the situation
of being dunned by a vendor when all I want to do is try it out *after* I
find out whether we can afford it. I'm looking at a single
SQL server with a database under 5GB...

|||Hi
With 5Gb DB, the native Backup supplied by SQL Server will do.
No need to go compression on such small databases.
Don't forget, once you make a backup with any of the 3rd party backup tools,
if you restore, you need to use the tool too.
On big databases, it does make sense.

That's not true with LiteSpeed. We offer a tool that converts LiteSpeed
backups to native format, if necessary.
