How can I Associate DataSource with Report using Code
Thx. in advance.
How can I Associate DataSource with Report using Code.I'm using Reporting
Service Web Serivice
I tried this below code but it is giving error
like
"The data source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report. --> The data
source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report"
DataSourceReference reference = new RS.DataSourceReference();
reference.Reference = txtDSPath.Text;
DataSource[] dataSources = new RS.DataSource[1];
DataSource ds = new RS.DataSource();
ds.Item = (RS.DataSourceDefinitionOrReference) reference;
ds.Name = txtDSPath.Text.Substring(txtDSPath.Text.LastIndexOf("/")+1);
dataSources[0] = ds;
rs.SetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text, dataSources);
Please help me to resolve the issue.
Thx. again.
regards,
Krishna.MIt took me 2 months to code this after hounding people and digging through
books. I look back and shake my head... :)
Note: FolderPath is the path of where the report root lives... i.e. if your
report was here and called "Top 50 Financial Statements" then the full path
is:
/reports/business/quarterly/Top 50 Financial Statements
and ReportRoot = "/reports/business/quarterly"
RSReports is my reference to the Reporting Service WSDL file (the variable
name you create when reference the reporting services web service)
MyDatasourceName is the name of your datasource. Be sure you specify where
it is exactly. :)
rsDeliverTo is just a variable of RSReports.ReportingService i.e.
Dim rsDeliverTo as RSReports.ReportingService
You should use "rsDeliverTo" to programmatically create your report, so you
can set the datasource in the code below as I have outlined:
Dim reference As New DataSourceReference
reference.Reference = ReportRoot & "/MyDatasourceName"
Dim ReportPathToReport As String = FolderPath + "/" + name
Dim rds() As RSReports.DataSource =rsDeliverTo.GetReportDataSources(ReportPathToReport)
Dim bflag As Boolean = False
Dim strResult As String = ""
For i As Integer = 0 To rds.Length - 1
If TypeOf rds(i).Item Is RSPolarisReports.InvalidDataSourceReference Then
rds(i).Item = CType(reference, DataSourceDefinitionOrReference)
bflag = True
End If
Next i
If (bflag) Then
rsDeliverTo.SetReportDataSources(ReportPathToReport, rds)
End If
Now that you have that, you can then proceed to set the report timeouts,
caching options, etc.

how can a trigger act asynchronously to the event that fired it in sql server 2005?
if service broker is not an option, how can the trigger and sp(s) called by our trigger act asynchronously to the event that fired the trigger in the first place. We are more concerned with the original event being committed than the actions that follow via the trigger.
Having the trigger call a job using sp_start_job would be one option if you don't want to use Service Broker, although Service broker would be a better approach.

SQL Server 2005 can provide you with a XML Web Service, this is documented
in Books Online see http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345123.aspx or
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191274.aspx
If you want to store information from an RSS feed in your database you may
want to check out
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnsql90/html/exchsqlxml.asp.
With SQL 2005 the CLR could be used to do this and there is an example in
"Pro SQL Server 2005" by Thomas Rizzo et al.

The ability to provide a HTTP endpoint directly in SQL Server is only
available in SQL 2005, with SQL 2000 you would need to use something like
IIS. The XML to SQL example
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnsql90/html/exchsqlxml.asp will work for SQL 2000 if you download SQLXML SP2 or higher.

Hotfixes available SQL Server
Is there a MS service available or a MS site that lists all (not just secuirty related) generally available hotfixes for SQL Server?
I am aware of the security notification. And also the information available here.

Hot Fix Prerequisites and Need with Service Packs
described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916002#appliesto to
resolve connection issues with .net to SQL. However, we are unable to
determine if this hot fix has any prerequisites (such as sp1), or if
it fixed in sp1 or even in sp2. I have searched extensively online,
and I do not see this as fixed in any service pack documents (although
the lists are seldom complete), and the prerequisites are missing in
the KB article.
Any help would be appreciated.
TerryIt's not a SQL Server hotfix:
APPLIES TO
. Microsoft ADO.NET 2.0
So in theory, you could be running RTM SQL 2005 and this would work after
applying the fix.

The KB Article mentions. BUG #: 483 (SQL Hotfix). What makes you say
this is not a SQL hotfix?
Terry|||The "applies to" is the defining term here, not the (SQL Hotfix) part...that
simply means the portion of ADO that is being fixed.
SQL Hotfix KBs have a list of the files that are being replaced, this KB
does not.
I tried to install it on my box and was told I did not have the product that
it applied to, but I do have the correct versions of SQL Server on my test
box.
Hope that helps :)
You can always call PSS and get a free incident opened and ask the same
question...just give them the KB article number when you call,

Hot Fix Prerequisites and Need with Service Packs
described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916002#appliesto to
resolve connection issues with .net to SQL. However, we are unable to
determine if this hot fix has any prerequisites (such as sp1), or if
it fixed in sp1 or even in sp2. I have searched extensively online,
and I do not see this as fixed in any service pack documents (although
the lists are seldom complete), and the prerequisites are missing in
the KB article.
Any help would be appreciated.
TerryIt's not a SQL Server hotfix:
APPLIES TO
. Microsoft ADO.NET 2.0
So in theory, you could be running RTM SQL 2005 and this would work after
applying the fix.
