How can I configure Report Services to show different set of Rendering Extension Per Repor

Hi There,
I'd like to configure the report services rendering extension on a per
report application basis. for example, if i have two report packages
named Package A and Package B, and I'd like to show only "PDF" as the
only export option for Package A, and "Excel" only for Package B. Is
there anyway to achieve this? changing the RSReportServer.config will
affect all report applications on the same server.
Regards,
KevinNo way to do this. Only way would be to have your own application instead of
using Report Manager.

Is that doable in SQL 2005?|||Thanks, Bruce!
Is that doable in SQL 2005?|||I don't think so but I don't know for sure.
One thing you could do is disable all export and then on your report have a
link at the top that exports to the format that you want.

How can I configure Report Manager to always show in full screen.

Hi,
I am trying to have the report manager render the report always in full
screen (full screen/Restore Down toggle). I mean have the toggle to always
collapse and not show Home/folders and view/properties/subscriptions tabs.
Thanks,
SamSam,
Take a look at the MSDN article that discusses "URL Access". Report manager
is going to show you the "folder view" as well as parameter list.

How can I combine two report parameters into a string?

Sorry, I am new to the SQL reporting. I am not sure whether I can combine
two report parameters in a string and then use it in my querystring or not.
For example, I have a report paramter called "Month" and the other one
called "Year". Obviously I want to make them as a start date for my report
and them pass this into my querystring. Can I achieve this without writing a
stored procedure for this purpose?
ThanksUse the command type of text.
exec sp_my_stored_procedure @.Month + @.Year, @.Param3, @.Param4
or
select * from table where date = @.Month + @.Year

Thanks for the reply. I have tried the way you mentioned below. Following
is what I did and the result I got:
Case 1. In "Define Query Parameter" dialog box, I type 3/1/2005 for @.month,
and leave @.year blank. The reporting service can successfully pull the data.
Case 2. In "Define Query Parameter" dialog box. I type 3/1/ for @.month and
2005 for @.year. An error happen: "Application uses a value of the wrong type
for the current operation."
Is there any other function I can apply for this query string to make it work?
Thanks

datetime data type instead of string.

How can i change the chart type at runtime?

Hi friends,

I want to display my report with different chart.

The type of chart to be display will be choosen only on exection time.

Can any one help me by giving solution to my problem?

Thank you

Currently, SSRS doesn't support changing the report definition at runtime. To implement your requirement consider an application front end to change and deploy the report definition. If this is not an option, the other option is to have all supported chart types on the report and hide conditionally the ones you don't need. The later approach may have performance ramifications.

The same question was asked long time back by somebody and I found this answer here in this forums.

I remember this was answered by Rajiv and Jarret. Thanks to them.

1.) Add this function in Code section.

Public Function ConvertToCamelCase(inputStr) as String
dim inputStrArr
dim tempWord
dim outputStr
dim i
inputStrArr = Split(inputStr, " ")

for i = 0 to UBound(inputStrArr)
tempWord = inputStrArr(i)
tempWord = UCase(Left(tempWord, 1)) & LCase(Right(tempWord, len(tempWord) - 1))
if outputStr = "" then
outputStr = tempWord
else
outputStr = outputStr & " " & tempWord
end if
Next

return outputStr
End Function

2.) Put this line of code in the expression you want.

=Code.ConvertToCamelCase(Fields!SomeText.Value)

Hope this helps...

how can i calculate "sum" in crystal report?

there is 2 field one is Branch code and second is transfer ammount.

if the branch code is same then the sum of transfer ammount is display

for eg

branch code transfer amount

0101 1000

0101 4000

--

5000

how can i do this?

Hi,

this forum is about reporting services only. If you want to do that in reporting service you would do a grouping per branch_code and do a sum in the footer of the group.

How can I bump date results to next business day

I've got a report that bumps projected cash from Weekends to Weekdays. However, I would like to make sure that the day isn't a holiday either.
How can I test if a date falls on a Weekend or Holiday, and move it to the next business day if necessary?I would create a table in your database labeled "Holidays" and list all the holidays you want to include. Add that table to your report and compare them kind of like the way you're doing it with the weekends already except insead of using the WeekDay function (A.K.A. DayOfWeek) and finding the number corresponding to the day - just compare each date record with each date in the holiday table using a for loop. Hope that isn't too vague. If so, I'll be a little more specific. Good luck. :)

I can change the font color etc' in the sumTotal title, but I want to change the color in the values that it not seem like the regular data with no success.

(the black row is the sumTotal)

Hi,

From your description, it seems that you want to modify the value's color in your report, right?
If so, I think you can achieve that by using the expressions. You can design a report so that different styles are applied to items based on the data in the report. For example, you can display negative numbers in red or change the background colors on a table.

To make styles conditional, use an expression instead of a static value for the style properties of the item. For example, to make a text box render negative values in red for a field called Profit, open the Properties Window and use the following expression in the Color property:

For font:
=Iif(Fields!TotalDue.Value < 10000,"Red","Black")
For background color:
=iif(RowNumber(Nothing) Mod 2, "PaleGreen", "White")

How can I Associate DataSource with Report using Code

hi,
Thx. in advance.
How can I Associate DataSource with Report using Code.I'm using Reporting
Service Web Serivice
I tried this below code but it is giving error
like
"The data source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report. --> The data
source 'DS_Code_002' cannot be found in this report"
DataSourceReference reference = new RS.DataSourceReference();
reference.Reference = txtDSPath.Text;
DataSource[] dataSources = new RS.DataSource[1];
DataSource ds = new RS.DataSource();
ds.Item = (RS.DataSourceDefinitionOrReference) reference;
ds.Name = txtDSPath.Text.Substring(txtDSPath.Text.LastIndexOf("/")+1);
dataSources[0] = ds;
rs.SetReportDataSources(txtReportPath.Text, dataSources);
Please help me to resolve the issue.
Thx. again.
regards,
Krishna.MIt took me 2 months to code this after hounding people and digging through
books. I look back and shake my head... :)
Note: FolderPath is the path of where the report root lives... i.e. if your
report was here and called "Top 50 Financial Statements" then the full path
is:
/reports/business/quarterly/Top 50 Financial Statements
and ReportRoot = "/reports/business/quarterly"
RSReports is my reference to the Reporting Service WSDL file (the variable
name you create when reference the reporting services web service)
MyDatasourceName is the name of your datasource. Be sure you specify where
it is exactly. :)
rsDeliverTo is just a variable of RSReports.ReportingService i.e.
Dim rsDeliverTo as RSReports.ReportingService
You should use "rsDeliverTo" to programmatically create your report, so you
can set the datasource in the code below as I have outlined:
Dim reference As New DataSourceReference
reference.Reference = ReportRoot & "/MyDatasourceName"
Dim ReportPathToReport As String = FolderPath + "/" + name
Dim rds() As RSReports.DataSource =rsDeliverTo.GetReportDataSources(ReportPathToReport)
Dim bflag As Boolean = False
Dim strResult As String = ""
For i As Integer = 0 To rds.Length - 1
If TypeOf rds(i).Item Is RSPolarisReports.InvalidDataSourceReference Then
rds(i).Item = CType(reference, DataSourceDefinitionOrReference)
bflag = True
End If
Next i
If (bflag) Then
rsDeliverTo.SetReportDataSources(ReportPathToReport, rds)
End If
Now that you have that, you can then proceed to set the report timeouts,
caching options, etc.

How can i assign customize data to sql report

hi folks,
i want to assign customize data to sql report. i have one record related to a customer. i have its current balance. i have to show in report that after specific months how much its amount will be.
i have to show each years amount that user will get. i am showing report in my aspx page. how can i assign this customize dataset to report

Good Morning or Good Evening!
I could be mising something based upon your post - but -
When you develop a report in REporting Services - you have to define a DataSet
The dataset can "grab" data from Sql and you can define a text string (Select whatever, count(1) from whatevertableyouwant)
The dataset could also execute a stored procedure and if you have this information available within your database a T-SQL stored proc ) can be executed via the dataset definition of reporting services - then -
you should have no problems in defining the report display elements
still not sure - but I think not so hard!
best regards.

How can I assign a value to a textbox programmatically in a report?

=iif( some_condition = true, System.DateTime.Now, "No Date")

or create your own function:
Add
Public Function myFunction(val as Object)
if val is Nothing then return System.DateTime.Now
return "Empty"
End Funcion

to Report-Properties->Code
and call it by
=Code.myFunction(Fields!ConditionColumn.Value)

how can i add heading in Matrix Report for columns and rows

How can i add a column heading for coulumns and row heading for rows in Matrix report created by wizard. i m using vs 2005 ..You need to create a Row Group or Column Group but at least from my perspective I have always stayed from Matrix's in MS RS and the reason why is - I cannot control the extrapolation of the matrix to the defined width of my report - probably a lousy reason - but I "fake" out based on a regular table layout a matrix look and feel with drill through's...
If the user wants to see everything then "click" and everything will be displayed - but for the first panel of data I provide as much possible releavant info and you want to see more then click on a link and I will navigate you to eternity! Also, when I navigate I keep the primary data field they clicked on as a parm and display this in the subsequent (called module) so the have a "path" of wheer they started there "infinite journey" from!

There are a few different options here. You can use a subreport that
will automatically print out on different pages or you can use a table/
matrix control and group on invoice number and right-click the control
-> select Properties -> select the Groups tab -> select Edit... -> and
select 'Page break at end.' Hope this helps.

how call stored procedure when user click on report line?

have a way to add ability to report, to do somthing, like delete

provide something like delete or modify options from reports. Then it becomes
an entry screen. I hope you will agree on this point.

RS can call a stored procedure, or any arbitrary SQL with a side-effect
such as deleting a record.
Your SQL should return a result set as well as deleting the record. You
could navigate to another report, passing a parameter containing the id
of the parameter to delete. This "deleting" report would display
instead of the main report, which could look a bit funny.
Alternatively you could navigate to a URL of an ASP or ASPX page that
does the job. Ideally you would set the target so the web page
displayed as a pop-up with a message like "record xx deleted" instead
of replacing the whole report.

How are the drill details determined?

Hello - I am using report builder against models.

Which attributes or properties determine what is shown when you do click/drill into the details? I'm using the adventure works database as my guide and expected the (default,Identifying or Aggregate ) attributes to control it, can you summarize how the drill details are determined? My test from adventure works sample:

      Pull Territory Name and #customers into the report Run it and drill into the details on one of the #customers It returns Acct#, CustType, CustName, #SalesOrders, Sum of a bunch of sales order fields and # customer addresses. The first three are the default attributes for a customer and the last sets look to be the default aggregates for the other relations to customer - Sales Order & Address.

Is it safe to say that it pulls in the default attributes of the immediate child and then aggregates of it's children? Does it go recursively?

Thanks in advance,

Toni

You are basically correct. I believe it also pulls in identifying attributes of entities for which there is only 1 related instance. No, it is not recursive. If you want full control over the set of fields displayed, you can build your own Clickthrough template report and use SQL Management Studio to configure it as one of the template reports for the target entity (e.g. Customer).

Hope that helps!

How are the aggregate details being calculated on a click through report?

Hi -

I need help figuring out what setting I need to tweak to get the correct calculations for the default aggregate attributes for the related entities of the one I am drilling into. Right now it is calculating the total across all for every row and not slicing by sub-customer.

Example:

I have a customer with a one-to-many relationship to incidents. Both have a count aggregate that is part of the default aggregates for the entity. There are 58 rows in my table. If I run a report with CustomerName and #Incidents, I correctly get different sub totals for each customer, totalling to 58 for the grand total. However, if I run a summary report on customers and drill into the customers using click through, the #Incidents is displayed but it is 58 for all customers - every row.

If I go into the defaultDetailAttributes of the Customer and add the #Incidents to it and run the previous test, then the correct number of incidents are shown for the customer, then the incorrect number of incidents follow (from getting the aggregates from the children).

The query generated is huge and I am sure it has something to do with my OptionalMany relationships between the tables, but I can't understand why...

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance,

Toni Fielder

I had a similar issue from before. I'm assuming you are using multiple datasets in this one table? I really struggled to find another way to dish this stuff out correctly, but the only efficient way I could get what I wanted (the same thing you are looking for) was to create a giant stored procedure combining the tables I was planning on using. Another way I found (the less efficient way) was to create subreports for each subcategory and call the information into the subreports that each subcategory was grouped by. This way will really increase the amount of time your report will be rendering for, but if you cannot do a stored procedure then this may be your only choice. Hope I could help.|||

Thanks for the message - I think I have a bit of a different situation.... I am constrained by using models and report builder - but I think custom click-through reports might be the equivalent of what you had to do.... unfortunately this has to be a generic model that is sold to multiple customers so custom click through reports has to be my last choice....

I now have another question that is related. I used my smallest object to try and figure out how this stuff is working. I changed all it's relationships (incorrectly) to One-One so it had no many relationships (or optional) from which to grab other aggregates. And I am getting all manner of aggregates from different entities in my model that really have nothing to do with my base entity. It has to be getting them from some extended relationship (all entities are interrelated - like they all share the users table under the covers to get Insert/Update information) but I am thoroughly confused at the moment.

Thanks for the help everyone.

How a parent report access datafields in its subreport

I am converting a crystal report to SQL Server Reporting Services report. In my crystal report copy, I have a parent report which will pass three parameters to a subreport (the subreport will use the params to retrieve data from database), then the parent report needs to access a calculated data field in its subreport. How can I do this using SQL Server Reporting Services? The subreport doesn't share data with its parent in SQL Server Reporting Services, right? Thanks.

I've never tried to do this and it sounds pretty complicated. But I wonder if you code put code into the Code tab of the sub report, something like:

Public Function GetValue() As String
Return First(Fields!MyField.Value, "MyQueryName")
End Function

And then from the parent call:

MySubReport.Code.GetValue()

--------------------

This could be a terrible idea but if you're completely stuck it could be worth a shot.
