how can I confirm msde sp3a upgrade information

I would need to know if the MSDE SP3a is aleady Upgraded.
I didn't search registy and Enterprise Manager(other PC)
Thank for your help
Hi,
Login to sql server using below command from command prompt:-
OSQL -sa -Ppassword -Sserver_name (enter)
1>select serverproperty('productlevel')
2>go
This will give you the service pack level of your sql server.
For older versions < SQL 2000, use the command
select @.@.version
It will give you the service pack number. with you can check the below link
to get the service pack details.

How can i "script table as" at sql server 2005 to sql server 2000 compatibility?

Hi,
I have a sql server 2005 .
But my old customers have a sql 2000 database.

I want to create table script, and upgrade my custumers tables..
i script table in sql 2005 and run at sql 2000. but it doesnt work?

for example: sql 2005 create this 1uery on the test table:

"USE [test]
GO
/****** Object: Table [dbo].[TBL_TEST] Script Date: 11/24/2006 13:21:19 ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[TBL_TEST](
[ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[KOLON1] [nchar](10) NULL,
[KOLON2] [nchar](10) NULL,
CONSTRAINT [PK_TBL_TEST] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[ID] ASC
)WITH (IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF) ON [PRIMARY]
) ON [PRIMARY]"

then i run to sql 2000, but it doesnt work.
but when i convert manually this query, it works.
"
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[TBL_TEST](
[ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[KOLON1] [nchar](10) NULL,
[KOLON2] [nchar](10) NULL
) ON [PRIMARY]

ALTER TABLE [dbo].[TBL_TEST] WITH NOCHECK ADD
CONSTRAINT [PK_TBL_TEST] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[ID]
) ON [PRIMARY]
"

SO i must convert sql 2000 format to this query. but i have a lot of table and always add new table . i could'nt change always.

How can i "script table as" at sql server 2005 to sql server 2000 compatibility?

You will find that there are some changes in the TSQL generated that will not work on sql 2000. But you should be able to have your database on the sql 2005 box run in sql 2000 compatability mode, then export the scripts... it should work then. You can change this setting in the Database properties.

|||thanks .
but my 2005 database currently run on compatability mode:Sql server 2000 (80)
so it couldn't work..|||You might try a free app I wrote called scriptdb. It will script out all objects in your database, with a separate file for each. It's useful for getting all your objects into source control if they aren't already. The source code is freely available. get it here:
http://www.elsasoft.org/tools.htm
hope it helps!
|||I have used ScriptDB which is an useful one in this case, I can second Jezemine's reference.|||

I had a similar situation,

here is my SOLUTION.

If you are useing Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express

A. Select your Database in the Object Explorer

B. Right Click, to get your context menu and choose: Task -> Generate Scripts... ( this is the only one I know if this will work on )

C. Click the Next button

D. Select your DB from the list

E. About Halfway down the options list set "Script for Server Version" to "SQL Server 2000"

F. Next...

G. Select your DB objects and generate your scripts

the script will work in SQL 2000

How and what to install

Hi,

My hosting cie sugested I upgrade from Access to SQL wich I did.

I downloaded the fullest version (trial) of SQL I could find, not knowing what I realy needed.

The Trial has now expired and when I try to install the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services " it sais that I need to uninstall some stuff (the error message is trunckated).

My use for this is to connect to and manage my live database. And to have a local copy of this database on my devellopement and testing machine that I can play around with.

Since i've install this "big version", I find that i'm only using the "sql management studio".

But when I go "add or remove prgms", it says I use everything "Frequently"!
So I do not want to uninstall something that I realy am using "frequently"...

Here is what I have in that list:

SQL server 2005
SQL server 2005 backward compatibitity
SQL server 2005 books online
SQL server Native client
SQL server setup support files
SQL server VSS writer
Visual Studio 2005 premier partner edition -ENU

This takes up 1121.62 MB !

I do not see in this list the sql management studio...?

What do I need to uninstall to be able to install "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services "?

What else should I uninstall because I just would not need ?

When I do uninstall whatever I need to uninstall, and install this express version, will it remember my conections? Find my local database? Basicly, will it screw up anything?!?

Thank you for your help!

Dominique

You can install express as a named instance, which would mean you don't need to install the other version. However, if the other version has expired, then you should uninstall all of it, it's all supporting SQL Server, and you say that doesn't work anymore anyhow.

Hotfix 8.00.2162

I think KB904660 is vague about the need to upgrade. Is MS
recommending all Sql Server customers upgrade to 8.00.2162 even if they
aren't experiencing any issues?
Hi
From what I have seen, they are saying that you should apply it if you
experience an issue that it fixes. This hotfix was tested a lot more than an
normal hotfix, but not as much as a service pack, so there might be some
gremlins.

hot to make sure a upgrade from sql 2005 standard to enterprise edition?

Randy,

I did run upgrade advisior to check the existed sql 2005 standard edition to upgrade to enterprise editon. I got the following error message:

SQL Server version: 09.00.1399 is not supported by this release of Upgrade Advisor

Is it means the upgrade advisor can only work on from 7.0, 2000 to 2005? If I need check from standard to enterjprise in 2005, what kind of tool I can use?

One of the SQL Server forums would be a better place to ask this question:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/default.aspx?ForumGroupID=19&SiteID=1

You'll have better luck finding an answer there.
